Haris’ training and experience commenced with the completion of his studies in law at the University of Exeter, England, in 1984. He subsequently qualified as an Advocate in Cyprus and became a member of the Cyprus Bar Association, in 1985. Upon qualification Haris commenced practice under the name Haris I. Boyiadjis – Law Office (1985-1991) and, later, in partnership with Marcos S. Kyprianou under the name Kyprianou and Boyiadjis – Law Office (1991-1995).
In 1995, Haris was appointed as a District Judge, in 2003 he was promoted to Senior District Judge and, in 2009, to President of the District Court. He took an early retirement in May 2020. During the period of the 25½ years he was on the Bench, he served in the District Courts of Nicosia-Kyrenia, Limassol and Larnaca-Famagusta. He served for three two-year terms as a member of the Criminal Assize Court (2005-2007 as a member of the Larnaca-Famagusta Criminal Assize Court, 2011-2013 as President of the Court, and 2018-2020 as President of the Nicosia Criminal Assize Court). He served as Administrative President of the District Court of Nicosia-Kyrenia during the period from 2014 to 2018.
Haris also served as a Lecturer – Examiner in the Cyprus Legal Council (the training and examining board for the Cyprus Bar) for a period of six years (1998-2004), lecturing pupil advocates in the subjects of Immovable Property Law and the Law of Succession.
Haris specializes in civil and criminal litigation although he also gives opinions and advises in all non-contentious areas of civil and criminal law.
